Dinosaurs were uniformly gigantic creatures, with even average species being car-sized or larger.
Dinosaur size varied enormously across species and time periods. Microraptor was chicken-sized (roughly 1 metre long), Compsognathus was similar to a modern turkey, and many small theropods weighed just 10-20 kilograms. Even among sauropods, species like Europasaurus grew only 6 metres long. Giant sauropods like Argentinosaurus (up to 100 metric tons) were exceptional. The median dinosaur was likely in the 100-kilogram range rather than multi-ton creatures, though these larger forms dominated the fossil record due to better preservation.
