Polywater is a polymeric form of water with unique properties , denser, less volatile, and with a different structure than ordinary water , discovered in narrow capillary tubes.
Polywater was extensively studied in the 1960s-1970s as a potential new state of matter, generating significant scientific interest and even popular concern about environmental contamination. However, careful analysis showed that polywater samples were simply ordinary water contaminated with dissolved salts and silica from the glass capillaries. When researchers used ultra-pure water and pristine glassware, polywater could not be reproduced.
