Sitting Too Close to the TV Will Ruin Your Eyesight (Permanent Damage)

It might cause temporary eye strain, but not permanent damage

Kids were told that sitting close to the television would permanently damage their eyes and ruin their vision.

Sitting close to a TV causes temporary eye strain and discomfort but doesn't cause permanent vision damage. Modern TVs emit far less radiation than older CRT models (which were the original concern), making them even safer. The myth may have originated as a way to get children to sit back and give other family members a view. Your eyes adjust focus and may feel fatigued, but vision returns to normal after rest.
