Carrots Are Naturally Orange

Orange carrots were bred in the 1600s

Carrots have always been orange in colour throughout history.

Wild carrots were originally purple, white, and yellow. Orange carrots were deliberately cultivated in the Netherlands in the 1600s, possibly to honour Dutch royalty (House of Orange). For most of human history, people ate non-orange carrots. The shift to orange dominance is a relatively recent agricultural development.
