The five senses are sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch, and these are the only ways humans perceive the world.
Humans have at least nine primary sensory systems: the five classical senses plus proprioception (body position awareness), equilibrium (balance), thermoception (temperature), and nociception (pain). Some scientists identify even more, depending on how sensory systems are categorised.
