Hair can turn completely white overnight as a result of extreme stress or shock.
Hair cannot change colour overnight. Hair colour is determined by melanin produced in follicles, which takes time to diminish. Greying is a gradual process occurring over months or years. The myth may stem from cases where people lost all pigmented hair in a condition called alopecia areata (which affects individual hairs), leaving only white hair visible. Extreme stress can accelerate greying, but not overnight.
